Check and recheck.
Let the car idle for 15 minutes, it'll help.
The car will then adjust its trims as you drive around, its best to vary your driving as much as possible and cover all the conditions you'd normally drive in, flat out at the track is not that great, neither is flat out freeway, wandering around town will help too.
If the car won't start, don't panic, switch it off, relax and double check the connections are seated, on the T4 2005 cars check the connector is seated correctly, don't force it, check for bent pins first, and that every one of them has gone in the right hole. The slider should click into place, it will wear out if you do it too much though.
Look at the cluster if the fuel display reads completely empty, then there is a problem with the ECU, assuming you have fuel that is, double check the connections.
T4E 06+ on cars, if you get a steady OBD II light on first install, the code should be P0601 thats telling you the ecu reset itself back to factory learn, which is the desired effect, let it idle 15 minutes and it'll go away on its own after a few runs. 05 cars and earlier don't have this code. Or you can use a scan tool to clear it, a flashing OBD II light (20 seconds after key on) is something else, this will be steady.
